Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Is there anything that you DON'T watch, Sold? Absolutely no interest in this old fossil whatsoever.

legrandefromage 4:34 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Have to say it is odd that West Ham fans wouldn't be interested in an ex-player who played just over 500 games for the club, scored 249 goals and is the only player to have scored a hatrick in a World Cup final

Manuel 5:09 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Blimey, could you not roll out anything more predictable and cliched cheese, son, I bet you're a right laugh at parties.

Now off you pop and watch the doco. I assume you will be watching it, I mean since you're a West fan and Hurst is an ex-player who scored 249 goals for the club in just over 500 games and is the only player to have scored a hatrick in a World Cup final.

The bloke is a knob and doesn't give a fuck about us, but enjoy it. Let us know what you make of it.

Manuel, you seriously make yourself look like an utter twat sometimes. Think before you type is my advice.

Manuel 5:29 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Alfs - Couldn't disagree more. I've never liked Hurst.

Do you know who I think looks like utter twats? it's folk like you and cheesey who are getting your knickers in a twist at my opinion on said topic. Try not to worry about it so much.

Enjoy the doc.

Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Seems little point in reporting back on the documentary to someone who has no interest at all in it.

Obviously, I don't know Sir Geoff as well as you do.

Manuel 5:31 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Well enjoy it anyway.

You admire someone for what they achieved as a player, not because he may be a knob. If knobbery were the only criteria for appreciation, I doubt there'd be many footballers past or present deserving of admiration.

Manuel 6:50 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Coffee - Agree to an extent but I wouldn't watch a doco on the bloke.

Just ask yourself why Hurst, despite his achievements with us, has never been spoken about with much affection down the years, or hardly at all really (including on here) compared to many other ex-players who achieved a lot less.

Coffee 7:11 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Maybe because he's a knob?

But he scored a World Cup Final hattrick and loads of goals for us.

Manuel 7:14 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Or a tosser, as you would say.

Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Dear Jim’ll Fix It,

Can you fix it for Geoff Hurst to pop round to Manuel’s one night to tuck him in at and read a bedtime story. He’s feeling unloved.

Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Met him once, was an obnoxious c###

Had this air of superiority about him, looked down on us little people

I also read that he was universally disliked amongst team mates

Apart from that, great bloke!

To be fair, he has a point, he is far superior to you! Even you can't argue that one!

Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Manuel do you know Hurst or are you allowing your opinions to be formed by others?

joyo 9:35 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Spent whole day with him while and he was great company and pure gent, was very pro West Ham,little bit arrogant and why not as only man in history to score hat trick in World Cup final, said he wanted to take that to his grave.l liked him

Crassus 9:37 Mon Nov 14
Re: Hurst: the First and Only
Met him loads of times as a kid and a more charmless fucker you could not meet - I'm with Manny and Boots

Sure, took advantage of a far better players injury and scored the hat trick, but even with that he was a far inferior player than he thinks he was - note he is never mentioned in lists of best players and merely rolls out every four years

Oh and some may want to take a look at his comments when moving to Stoke ......

Peters likewise, another charmless cunt but at least a superb player - the 'I've always seen myself as more Spurs than West Ham' until I needed a lounge job cunt
